Browser script execution via unsanitized device names
Published Jul 26, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024
Stored XSS in Netdisco before 2.063000 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser through device search results. TypeAhead.pm returns unescaped device system names as HTML for the Find Anything dropdown, causing embedded tags to be interpreted instead of displayed as text. Execution requires an administrator to discover attacker-controlled SNMP data and search for it; the script then runs with that administrator's Netdisco session privileges.
