Service tampering via weak OSF_discovery permissions
Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
Improper access control in Softing OPC Suite 5.25 and earlier allows remote attackers to replace its OSF_discovery executable or delete the service. The OSF_discovery service starts with permissions that permit unauthorized modification of its executable and removal of the service. Reachability depends on access to the weakly protected service object; replacement changes what the service launches, while deletion removes discovery functionality.
