CVE-2023-37536Network attack vector

Out-of-bounds access via DFA leaf-count overflow

Published Oct 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Integer overflow in Xerces-C++ 3.2.3 within HCL BigFix Platform allows remote authenticated users to cause out-of-bounds access via HTTP. DFAContentModel::countLeafNodes performs unchecked additions and multiplication, and buildDFA increments the resulting leaf count before using it to size an array. Exploitation requires low privileges, network access, and user interaction; published evidence does not specify whether the access is a read or write.
