Browser script execution via stored report payload
Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stored XSS in the Download Status Report in HCL BigFix Platform 9.5.x and 10.0.x allows remote attackers to run script in a viewer's browser. HCL states that an unauthenticated payload is stored in the report served by BigFix Server, but has not disclosed the affected input or missing output-encoding operation. Exploitation requires a user to open the poisoned report; the script then executes in that report's browser context.
