CVE-2023-37480Network attack vector

Service interruption via unchecked ZIP expansion

Published Jul 18, 2023 · Updated Oct 18, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Ethyca Fides 2.11.0 through 2.15.1 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt the webserver. The connector-template save path processes uploaded archive entries without first bounding their expanded size, allowing a highly compressed file to consume server resources. The upload endpoint requires CONNECTOR_TEMPLATE_REGISTER, held by root and owner-role users, and exploitation makes the webserver unavailable until its container restarts.
