CVE-2023-37479Network attack vector

Enclave side-channel exposure via unsanitized processor state

Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024

Improper initialization in Open Enclave SDK before 0.19.3 allows attackers to infer enclave activity through processor-state side channels. The enclave-entry assembly leaves caller-controlled MXCSR and RFLAGS.AC state unsanitized, making instruction timing and unaligned accesses observable. Exploitation requires influence over processor state at enclave entry; the resulting signals disclose secret-dependent timing and memory-access patterns.
