CVE-2023-37475Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via unchecked decoded allocation length

Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 18, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Hamba avro before 2.13.0 allows remote attackers to crash consuming applications via crafted Avro data. Reader.readBytes trusts a decoded string or byte-slice length and passes it directly to make before confirming that the input contains that much data. Any application that passes untrusted data to Unmarshal is exposed, and the resulting Go runtime out-of-memory failure is unrecoverable and terminates the process.
