Media permission spoofing via background-tab prompt overlay
Published Jul 12, 2023 · Updated Nov 7, 2024
UI spoofing in Firefox for iOS before 115 allows remote attackers to present a background site's media prompt over a foreground site. The requestMediaCapturePermissionFor delegate displayed camera or microphone prompts without first confirming that the requesting WKWebView was the current tab. A user must open attacker-controlled HTTPS content, move to another tab, and approve the misattributed request, granting the background site camera or microphone access.
