Code execution via undersized vcd2vzt heap buffer
Published Jan 8, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in GTKWave vcd2vzt 3.3.115 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code when a victim converts a crafted VCD file. In parse_valuechange, an off-by-one size check fails to reserve space for the terminator before strcpy copies the padded value into vector. Exploitation requires a victim to process the file with vcd2vzt and grants code execution in the victim's security context.
