Remote code execution via proxy_user semicolon injection
Published Jul 13, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Improper input validation in Apache Airflow Apache Hive Provider before 6.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. HiveCliHook._prepare_cli_cmd appends the proxy_user value to a Beeline JDBC URL without rejecting semicolons, allowing injected JDBC parameters. Exploitation requires permission to modify Airflow connection details and can run code in the task execution context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
