CVE-2023-37365Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via unchecked graph-size parameter

Published Jun 30, 2023 · Updated Dec 5, 2024

Double free in hnswlib before 0.8.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash a consuming process via an oversized M value. The HierarchicalNSW constructor accepts M without an upper bound and uses it to derive graph-size fields, leaving corrupted heap state that is freed twice during destruction. A consuming application must pass attacker-influenced input to init_index; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, not code execution.
