Code execution via undersized BMP heap buffer
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Heap-based buffer overflow in Tungsten Automation Power PDF 5.0.0.19 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted BMP file. The BMP parser copies attacker-controlled data into a fixed-length heap buffer without validating the supplied length, allowing the copy to overrun the allocation. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and successful execution runs in the current process context.
