Root code execution via unchecked username copy
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in the DDP service in D-Link DAP-2622 1.00 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The Set Device Info handler copies an unvalidated authentication username into a fixed-length stack buffer without checking its length. No authentication or user interaction is required, but access to the adjacent network is necessary; successful exploitation runs code as root.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
