Stored XSS via unsafe column-alignment replacement
Published Jun 30, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Cross-site scripting in the DoubleWiki extension for MediaWiki 1.39.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script. DoubleWiki::addMatchingTags() applies broad regular-expression and string replacements to rendered HTML, letting crafted alignment text escape into event-handler markup. A reader must open the side-by-side view and click the crafted aligned text; the script then runs in that reader's browser under the wiki's origin.
