Cross-site scripting via unescaped default-format fields
Published Jun 29, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Special:CargoQuery in the Cargo extension for MediaWiki 1.39.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute browser script. The default result format emits a stored String field from a crafted page item as HTML without neutralizing script tags. Exploitation requires the crafted value to be stored in a Cargo table and a user to view matching results, where the script runs in that user's session.
