SYSTEM privilege escalation via writable-directory DLL hijacking
Published Oct 31, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Atera Agent Package Availability 0.14.0.0 and earlier allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. Agent.Package.Availability.exe runs as SYSTEM at reboot from a Windows Temp subdirectory that inherits write access and loads an attacker-planted DLL. Any standard Windows user can plant the DLL; successful exploitation executes its code as SYSTEM after the system reboots.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
