CVE-2023-37237Network attack vector

Arbitrary command execution via restricted-shell permission bypass

Published Jun 29, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024

Shell restriction bypass in Veritas NetBackup Appliance 4.1.0.1 MR2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run OS commands via SSH. Insecure permission assignments within the restricted-shell environment let an Admin account evade its command-execution controls. Administrative credentials and network access to SSH are required; successful exploitation grants arbitrary command execution on the appliance host.
