Code execution via unwarned Diagcab launch
Published Jul 5, 2023 · Updated Nov 20, 2024
Unsafe file handling in Firefox before 115, Firefox ESR before 102.13, and Thunderbird before 102.13 allows attackers to run code. The file-handling dangerous-extension list omitted .diagcab, so opening a downloaded cabinet invoked the Windows diagnostics wizard without an executable-file warning. A user must open the crafted file, after which its diagnostic package can execute code with that user's privileges on the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
