CVE-2023-37202Network attack vector

Memory corruption via cross-compartment wrapper mismatch

Published Jul 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Use-after-free in Firefox before 115 and Firefox ESR or Thunderbird before 102.13 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via web content. SpiderMonkey cross-compartment wrappers around scripted proxies can store objects from other compartments in the main compartment, leaving an invalid reference after the wrapped object is freed. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled script execution; Thunderbird disables scripting while reading email, limiting exposure there to browser or browser-like contexts.
