Application crash via unchecked ZFP chunk pointer
Published Dec 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in C-blosc2 before 2.9.3 allows attackers to crash applications by submitting a crafted ZFP-compressed chunk. The zfp_acc_decompress function uses dparams->schunk as a valid super-chunk without first checking whether that nested pointer is null. Reachability requires a consuming application to process attacker-controlled ZFP data with the affected codec; triggering the dereference terminates that process.
