Process crash via unchecked ZFP chunk pointer
Published Dec 25, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in C-Blosc2 before 2.9.3 allows attackers to crash a consuming process via crafted ZFP-compressed data. During precision-mode ZFP decompression, zfp_prec_decompress dereferences dparams->schunk without first verifying that the chunk pointer exists. Any application that passes attacker-controlled compressed input to the affected codec can terminate when the absent chunk context is accessed.
