CVE-2023-37035

Service crash via missing Global eNB ID

Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Jan 22, 2025

Null pointer dereference in Magma MME 1.8.0 and earlier allows attackers to crash the service via a malformed S1 Setup Request. The s1ap_mme_handle_s1_setup_request handler accepts a missing Global eNB ID, leaves the protocol-element pointer null, and dereferences it while reading the eNB ID choice. Access to the S1 interface from a compromised or misconfigured base-station path is required; the crash interrupts LTE control-plane service.
