CVE-2023-37026Public exploit

MME crash via missing S1AP identifier

Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Jan 23, 2025

Null pointer dereference in Magma MME 1.8.0 and earlier allows network-adjacent attackers to crash the MME with a malformed S1AP packet. In s1ap_mme_handle_erab_rel_response, a failed lookup for the required MME_UE_S1AP_ID leaves ie null, but the handler dereferences ie to read the identifier. Access to the S1 interface as a base station or equivalent network-adjacent position is required, and one crafted E-RAB Release Response interrupts MME service.
