Local heap-memory disclosure
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025
Information disclosure in Microsoft VP9 Video Extensions before 1.0.61591.0 allows local users to read heap memory through crafted media. Microsoft has not published the affected decoder locus or the invalid input-validation operation that exposes memory during VP9 processing. Exploitation requires a user to open crafted content, and the reported consequence is confidentiality loss without integrity or availability impact.
