CVE-2023-36853

Local SYSTEM code execution via arbitrary ZIP placement

Published Jul 19, 2023 · Updated Oct 24, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Keysight N6854A Geolocation Server 2.4.2 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The exposed ZIP-creation function writes an archive containing a malicious script to an attacker-chosen local path, enabling a SYSTEM process to load its DLL; the exact method is undisclosed. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and grants SYSTEM-level code execution with control of data and service operation.
