FPC crash via malformed CFM packet
Published Jul 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Improper handling of undefined values in Junos OS PPMD on affected MX Series releases allows attackers to crash the FPC. PPMD mishandles an undefined value while processing a malformed Connectivity Fault Management packet, causing the Flexible PIC Concentrator to crash. The packet must reach an interface with CFM configured; continued delivery sustains the service interruption, while confidentiality and integrity remain unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
