Arbitrary file upload via unauthenticated J-Web handler
Published Aug 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Missing authentication in J-Web for Junos OS EX Series allows remote attackers to upload arbitrary files through installAppPackage.php. The installAppPackage.php handler accepts a crafted upload request without requiring authentication and writes the supplied file into a restricted filesystem area. Network access to enabled J-Web is sufficient; the direct impact is limited file-system modification, but the upload can be chained with other flaws for code execution.
