CVE-2023-36832Network attack vector

PFE crash via exceptional AMS packet handling

Published Jul 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Improper exception handling in Junos OS on MX Series allows remote attackers to crash the PFE with packets sent through an AMS interface. Packet processing fails on a specific packet destined to a local interface through an AMS service interface, terminating the PFE. Only AMS configurations on MS-MPC, MS-MIC, or MX-SPC3 cards are exposed; transit traffic is unaffected, while repeated packets sustain the outage.
