CVE-2023-36812Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via Gnuplot parameter injection

Published Jun 30, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Command injection in OpenTSDB before 2.4.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted graph parameters. GraphHandler accepts special characters in HTTP graph parameters such as key, writes them into a Gnuplot command file, and launches Gnuplot. No authentication or user interaction is required when the TSD HTTP service is reachable and Gnuplot graphing is enabled; commands run with the daemon's privileges.
