CVE-2023-36792

Code execution via corrupted PDB integer overflow

Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2025

Integer overflow in Microsoft Visual Studio, .NET, and PowerShell on Windows allows local users to execute code via a corrupted PDB file. DiaSymReader.dll incorrectly processes integer values while parsing malformed debugging symbols, although Microsoft has not published the exact overflowing operation. Exploitation requires a user to open or process the crafted PDB, after which code runs in that user's security context.
