Code execution via heap-based buffer overflow
Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft 3D Viewer before 7.2306.12012.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted content. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected parser, file format, or bounds error that permits the heap overwrite. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious content, and successful code execution runs in that user's security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
