SYSTEM privilege escalation via object locking race
Published Oct 10, 2023 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Race condition in Microsoft Windows Win32k allows local users with low-privileged code execution to gain SYSTEM privileges. The DEVLOCKBLTOBJ class in the win32kfull driver performs operations on an object without proper locking, allowing a race over that object's state. Exploitation requires the ability to run low-privileged code locally and results in arbitrary code execution in the SYSTEM context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
