Stored XSS via unescaped trace attribute keys
Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Stored XSS in Jaeger UI 1.30.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript when a crafted trace is viewed. KeyValuesTable passes attacker-controlled object keys through json-markup and renders the resulting HTML with dangerouslySetInnerHTML without neutralizing script-related markup. Exploitation requires control of a trace key and a user to open the affected tags, logs, or process section, exposing Jaeger query results to exfiltration.
