Local firewall bypass via unrestricted rules actions
Published Jun 26, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Access-control failure in Malwarebytes Binisoft Windows Firewall Control 6.9.2.0 allows local users to bypass firewall restrictions. The wfc.exe Rules tab sends export, import, and reset commands to the privileged wfcs.exe service without enforcing access control. Any local unprivileged account can overwrite or reset firewall rules when the optional application password is unset; Malwarebytes considers this intended behavior.
