Root command execution via unvalidated timezone
Published Jul 5, 2023 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
OS command injection in Loxone Miniserver Go (Gen 2) before 14.1.5.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The WebSocket configuration handler inserts the timezone value into a Linux-shell symlink command without validation, so backticks escape the intended argument. Administrative privileges and an encrypted WebSocket session are required; successful exploitation grants root-level operating-system control.
