CVE-2023-36621Public exploit

Restriction bypass via Android Safe Mode

Published Nov 3, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Authorization bypass in Boomerang Parental Control 13.83 and earlier for Android allows local users to disable child-device restrictions. Android Safe Mode disables the third-party app, permitting its device-admin, overlay, usage-access, and accessibility permissions to be revoked before normal boot. Exploitation requires control of the child device and disabled Internet access; affected non-Knox devices then permit restricted-app use or silent uninstallation while the parent view remains unchanged.
