CVE-2023-36475Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked BSON type fields

Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024

Prototype pollution in Parse Platform Parse Server before 5.5.2 and 6.0.0 through 6.2.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through MongoDB. DatabaseController accepted nested request objects containing a forged _bsontype value of Code and passed them to the MongoDB BSON parser without applying the configured prohibited-keyword check. A network-reachable instance using the MongoDB adapter is exposed; successful exploitation executes attacker-supplied code in the server process context.
