Remote code execution via unescaped icon-theme syntax
Published Jun 29, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Code injection in XWiki Platform before 14.10.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted icon themes. Icon-set HTML and XWiki syntax definitions are rendered without escaping, so embedded script macros execute with the receiving document's programming rights. Document-edit access is required to create or alter an icon set, and rendering it through the icon picker grants control over the wiki instance's data and service.
