Remote server crash via gc_col SQL sequence
Published Jun 22, 2023 · Updated Dec 6, 2024
Denial of service in MonetDB Server 11.45.17 and 11.46.0 allows remote attackers to crash the server via crafted SQL statements. The gc_col path dereferences invalid state during transaction cleanup after a crafted sequence involving temporary tables, truncation, deletion, commit, and a follow-up query, causing the server process to crash. SQL access through interfaces such as ODBC is required; exploitation interrupts service availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
