CVE-2023-36340Network attack vector

Unauthenticated memory corruption via oversized http_host

Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Stack overflow in TOTOLINK NR1800X Firmware 9.1.0u.6279_B20210910 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted login request. The loginAuth function places attacker-controlled http_host data into a stack buffer without enforcing its capacity; public records do not name the copy primitive or buffer size. The network request requires no authentication or user interaction; stack-memory corruption is documented, while a resulting crash or code execution is not publicly demonstrated.
