Authenticated code execution via traversable plugin filename
Published Aug 7, 2023 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
Path traversal in Textpattern CMS 4.8.8 allows remote authenticated users to write uploaded plugin files outside the plugin directory. The plugin_upload() function appends the untrusted uploaded filename directly to the destination path instead of reducing it to a basename. Administrator access to the plugin upload interface is required; crafted path components can place executable PHP outside the protected plugin directory and enable server-side code execution.
