CVE-2023-36212Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via web-accessible PHP upload

Published Aug 3, 2023 · Updated Oct 17, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in Total CMS 1.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through the edit page. The edit page's downloads area accepts a PHP payload disguised with PNG markers without rejecting executable content, then stores it beneath a web-accessible cms-data/depot path where PHP executes it. Authenticated edit access is required, and successful exploitation runs commands with the web server account's privileges.
