Database disclosure via unchecked model-generated SQL
Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Oct 15, 2024
SQL injection in LangChain before 0.0.247 allows remote attackers to read database data through the SQLDatabaseChain component. SQLDatabaseChain sends model-generated SQL directly to the configured database without intercepting or rejecting unsafe statements derived from a user-controlled prompt. Exposure requires an application to pass remote user prompts into a chain backed by a database account; successful injection can read data available to that account.
