CVE-2023-36177Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via crafted stream URI

Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Command injection in Badaix Snapcast 0.27.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the JSON-RPC API. The unauthenticated Stream.AddStream method accepts an attacker-controlled AirPlay stream URI whose path reaches a shell-backed process command without neutralizing metacharacters. Network access to snapserver's control port is sufficient; injected commands run with the server process's privileges and can read its accessible data.
