WebSocket interception via missing certificate validation
Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Improper certificate validation in Mattermost Mobile 2.5.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to intercept WebSocket connections. The iOS app fails to validate the server certificate when initializing TLS for a WebSocket connection. Successful exploitation requires control of the network path but no account or user interaction, exposing intercepted session traffic to reading or alteration.
