CVE-2023-36045

Code execution via untrusted pointer dereference

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2025

Remote code execution in affected Microsoft Office releases allows remote attackers to execute code after required local user interaction. Microsoft identifies an untrusted pointer dereference in the Office graphics component but does not disclose the parser, pointer source, or malformed input that triggers it. Successful exploitation runs code in the affected Office process; the exact delivery path and memory operation remain undisclosed.
