Security-feature bypass via invalid certificate acceptance
Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2025
Improper input validation in Microsoft On-premises data gateway before 3000.198.9 allows remote authenticated users to bypass certificate validation. The gateway certificate-validation path accepts attacker-supplied certificates whose signatures are not valid, defeating the intended trust check. Low privileges and user interaction are required; Microsoft has not disclosed which protected operation follows acceptance of the certificate.
