Remote file deletion via injected malware signatures

Denial of service in Microsoft Malware Protection Platform before 4.18.23110.3 allows remote attackers to delete protected files. Defender scans attacker-controlled content for malware byte signatures and automatically remediates a matching file, so injected signature bytes can make it erase an otherwise benign database or log. The attack needs only a remotely writable content path and can destroy application data or interrupt the protected host without authentication or user interaction.
