Remote code execution via stack buffer overflow
Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Microsoft's WDAC OLE DB provider allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious SQL Server. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected routine, malformed field, or incorrect bounds operation that overruns the stack buffer. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to connect to the malicious server through OLE DB and runs code in that user's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
