CVE-2023-36003Public exploit

Privilege escalation via unchecked diagnostics DLL injection

Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025

Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Windows XAML Diagnostics allows local users to execute code in a higher-privileged process. InitializeXamlDiagnosticsEx accepts a caller-supplied diagnostics DLL and asks the target process to load it without verifying that the sender has sufficient privileges. Exploitation requires local low-privileged execution and a reachable elevated or UIAccess XAML process, and it grants that process's privileges.
